I am happy to say we have the best fishing vessel in the state of Hawaii. Maggie Joe was built for these waters and has been extremely successful. She is the only fishing yacht in the state certified by Coast Guard to take more than 6 passengers aboard. Which makes her perfect for your family adventure. She is fresh out of dry dock and ready to tackle the ocean again.
53′ Custom sport fisher. The boat was designed by Eddie and John De Rego. It was built for long range charters as well as daily charters. When designing the boat, the two most important concerns of the boat was the fishing deck and the engine room. Dad and Uncle Eddie wanted a boat that had lots of room on the fishing deck so all could enjoy the activities and not feel cramped. The result is the largest fishing cockpit of any charter boat on Oahu, that is set up with a live well, tuna tubes, a huge brine box for the daily catch and a very large ice hold. With all this, there is still plenty of room for a full size Murray Brothers fighting chair. The other priority was the engine room. We can walk around both engines and have full access to all the equipment. For our safety, the boat has five water tight bulkheads. Maggie Joe also has the largest fly bridge of any sport fisher on Oahu.
Since being launched in 1980, we have rebuilt the boat twice; first in 1993 and then in 2003. In 2003 we added a tuna tower.
Maggie Joe was one of the first sport fishers to transit the Pacific Ocean on her own bottom. After 9 days and almost 2300 gallons fuel, she arrived in Honolulu.
